Amazing Grace—366 Inspiring Hymn Stories for Daily Devotions
June 25 • O HAPPY DAYPhilip Doddridge, 1702–1751 • I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness. (Isaiah 61:10) • It is always encouraging to share in a testimonial service by recalling with other believers the time we responded to God’s loving invitation for personal salvation. To remember what we were, how we were going, and where we could …
The Christian’s Secret of a Holy Life
The Christian’s Secret • June 25 • Still I am trusting, and still Jesus saves me! It grows better and better. I have got the secret at last. It is a life of faith, and I have learned how to live it! It has been a most blessed winter. My own experience has been one of perfect rest in Christ. I trust Him, and He does all the rest. Oh, what a Saviour He is! I am so thankful now that He …
Morning, June 25 Go To Evening Reading • “Get thee up into the high mountain.” • — Isaiah 40:9 • Our knowledge of Christ is somewhat like climbing one of our Welsh mountains. When you are at the base you see but little: the mountain itself appears to be but one-half as high as it really is. Confined in a little valley, you discover scarcely anything but the rippling brooks as they descend into the stream at the foot of the mountain. Climb …
• June 25th • Receiving one’s self in the fires of sorrow • What shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? But for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify Thy name. John 12:27-29 (R.V.). • My attitude as a saint to sorrow and difficulty is not to ask that they may be prevented, but to ask that I may preserve the self God created me to be through every fire of sorrow. Our Lord received …
Thoughts for the Quiet Hour
June 25 • The Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them • Acts 13:2 • We have such a nice little quiet, shady corner in the vineyard, down among the tender grapes, with such easy little weedings and waterings to attend to. And then the Master comes and draws us out into the thick of the work, and puts us in a part of the field where we never should have thought of

• YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION • Words and Music by Horatio R. Palmer, 1834–1907 • Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. (Matthew 26:41) • Temptations are common to everyone, even mature Christians. The noblest souls are often the ones most tempted. It seems that Satan assaults Christians in positions of leadership with his strongest weapons. Therefore, we must all be on our constant spiritual guard. •

• I do not doubt that my Lord means to teach me that He Himself is sufficient for all of my every need for support and fellowship; and I want to learn the lesson without complaining. Isn’t it strange that there should be any temptation to complain?

• “Why sit we here until we die?” • — 2 Kings 7:3 • Dear reader, this little book was mainly intended for the edification of believers, but if you are yet unsaved, our heart yearns over you: and we would fain say a word which may be blessed to you. Open your Bible, and read the story of the lepers, and mark their position, which was much the same as yours.

• The abandonment of God • God so loved the world that He gave. . . John 3:16. • Salvation is not merely deliverance from sin, nor the experience of personal holiness; the salvation of God is deliverance out of self entirely into union with Himself.

He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing • John 15:5 • Too much taken up with our work, we may forget our Master; it is possible to have the hand full, and the heart empty. Taken up with our Master we cannot forget our work; if the heart is filled with His love, how can the hands not be active in His service? •

• “He shall save his people from their sins.” • — Matthew 1:21 • Many persons, if they are asked what they understand by salvation, will reply, “Being saved from hell and taken to heaven.” This is one result of salvation, but it is not one tithe of what is contained in that boon. It is true our Lord Jesus Christ does redeem all his people from the wrath to come;

illustration- the call

• The call of God • For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel. 1 Cor. 1: 17. • Paul states here that the call of God is to preach the gospel; but remember what Paul means by “the gospel” viz., the reality of Redemption in our Lord Jesus Christ. We are apt to make sanctification the end-all of our preaching. Paul alludes to personal experience by way of illustration…

At the SIENNA museum of fine arts i stood before the pictures and drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci. When i saw, how ingenious this master has used his gifts and skills to honour GODS creation, i asked the creator: OH, LORD i´m just like scattered glass, what have i done with the gifts You gave to me and what shall i do to use it to Your favour?- The simple answer came suddenly direkt and loud into my ears, thoughts and mind: „MAKE FILMS“! –

WOW– now some friends called me up and ask me to work with them on film projects. the final authority as executive producer. The companies name shall be : SCATTERING GLASS PRODUCTIONS.

GOD can illustrate our tasks and restore HIS CALL in a very humbling way.
