About This Activities Resource

Why an Activities Resource?

Mobile Ed courses contain both active and passive elements designed to maximize learning. While active learning elements have been present in a course’s Guides and Tools section, for example, courses have predominantly emphasized the consuming of information through traditional, more passive means, such as lecture content and readings.
In order to facilitate a more active learning experience, this resource consolidates and enhances the active elements of the Mobile Ed course it accompanies. It provides a venue for interacting with Logos Bible Software, reflecting more deeply on course material, and connecting with others who are processing the course contents. The elements of this resource are described below.

Guides and Tools Section

The Guides and Tools section previously found throughout the courses’ Explore sections are now in this resource. This section includes a place to record and reflect upon any insights gained from exploring the Guides and Tools.

Challenges

Challenge activities are designed to help you apply course content through interacting with Logos Bible Software. In this way, they function similarly to screencasts. Instead of learning about Logos by watching someone else execute tasks, however, you learn through hands-on practice. This is a more rewarding experience as well as a more natural approach for exploring the facets of a tool like Logos.

Help from Resources and Tutorials Section

This section includes resources that could prove helpful in completing a Challenge activity. These include interactive tools, sections from the Logos Help menu, video tutorials of software features, and more.

Show Results Section

The contents of this section are hidden by default so that a Challenge activity can be completed without guidance, if preferred. You can confirm that an activity was done correctly by clicking on the “+” sign to reveal screenshots, step-by-step instructions, or links to prepopulated searches or the relevant portion of an appropriate resource.

Reflect Section

This section facilitates deeper thinking about course content. The activities here are designed to help you process the significance of issues raised by the speaker or by other course activities. Space is periodically provided to reflect on any aspect of the course that you find meaningful.

Connect Section

Part of effective learning is processing with others. Each course has a Faithlife group associated with it, a place for you to engage with others who are working through the course. Sharing and discussing insights with fellow students will increase your understanding of the content, and may prove especially helpful if you are otherwise working through the course on your own.
